Check out this cute little cardboard robot, made out of an Amazon box. You may be wondering why I would post this on a costume blog.
Behold! It’s not a robot after all, it’s a little action figure wearing a costume! Ha, what a strange idea. You can pick one up from overseas for around $25.
Fans of the Japanese manga Yotsuba&! will have to forgive my ignorance. I had to do some research. This is Danbo, based on a manga about a girl who tricks her friend into thinking she owns an attack robot. When actually it was just a costume made for a school project. Sounds funny!
A girl named Miura Hayasaka, dresses in a robot costume made from cardboard boxes as part of a school project.
Yotsuba discovers her dressed in the costume, so Miura playfully convinces Yotsuba that she is an actual “attack robot,” powered by money inserted into the slot on the chest. Miura names her “robot” Danbo.
The eyes light up, too!

Have you heard the stories of Horace and Agnes? There’s a whole world waiting for you on one of the best Facebook pages I’ve come across.
Artists Asia Kepka and Lynn Dowling dress up in animal costumes, and take amazing color photos of Horace and Agnes being in love. They have lots of animal friends, too! Each photo comes with a little story, it’s quite delightful.
Here’s how the project came about:
On a hot July day, we dressed ourselves up with masks borrowed from a friend and started shooting self-portraits. We were fascinated by these characters and immediately named them Horace and Agnes. Once we gave them an identity, their story began to unfold. They met through random circumstance and their love for each other is literally blind. They exemplify a fairy tale of what it would be like to fall in love with the right person…just because.
Horace and Agnes (and their friends) are made up of all of the people we have encountered through our lives. Their world, though slightly dated, is a tangible one that our characters pass through. We encourage our audience to follow us as we uncover their adventures.
We hope you enjoy it.

Here’s an example of one short story. Follow the link to view read them all!
Playing Hard to Get.
Horace can get so wrapped up in his bird books that he misses signs. Agnes has been flirting madly to no avail. Exasperated, she gives him a playful swat and takes off running. Horace knows this game. He drops his book and takes off after her. They are laughing and running crazily through an open field. Anyone watching this race can plainly see that Agnes is a lot faster than Horace. She has to slow down at the end so he can catch her. She’s playing hard to get, but not that hard.

What an adorable photo! Such a lovely tea party. The pup is clearly wearing a Snow White costume, and the little girl is dressed as… Cinderella? Hard to tell, but it sure is cute.

Here’s a really cool aerial photo of employees at Genetech, a biotechnology and pharmaceutical company. 2600 employees put on different colored hats to pay tribute to DNA. They’re celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Watson-Crick model of DNA double-helical structure. Very cool! A neat idea, and the photo turned out quite well.
Fun fact: If you search Google Images for Best picture on the Internet, this image is the number one result. A cat in a lovely dress, walking a fish? LOL, so artistic! This is a well deserved honor. 🙂

Here’s a fun gallery of Chihuahuas dressed in high fashion, created by photographer Sophie Gamand. Dog Vogue is the name of this delightful photo series, where the dogs were photographed just like actual super models. Best of all, you can order prints, with proceeds going to help homeless animals.

Well, doesn’t this horse look comfortable. He’s all dressed up in his purple pj’s with little sheep printed on them. He must be getting ready for a pony sleepover. Very stylish!
