Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We managed to survive the end of the world, and Christmas will come after all. I’m taking off on a vacation, but I’ll be back with more costume blogging after the new year.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Amazing Crocheted Dwarven Helm and Beard

Check out this amazing crocheted Dwarven helm, complete with detachable beard! This was made by saddayscrochet and posted on DeviantArt. She made this for her brother, what an amazing gift! I wonder if she will start selling these to the public? I imagine they would sell quite well. Great job!

The helm I based directly on the helm that Gimli wears in the Lord of the Rings movies, the beard was my own design with massive creative input from my brother.

That’s me wearing it- I’d get him to wear it, but he is far away. Helm has a lovely fleece interior and beard attaches and detaches with large snaps. The rest is mithril.

Awesome Children’s Costume Photo

Nothing improves a family photo quite like homemade costumes. LOL, this is great. Looks like a Ninja Turtle costume, along with Tweedledee and Tweedledum. What a sad little Tweedle, too funny.

Christmas Wishes in Deadpool and Boba Fett Costumes

The comedy film makers known as Sneaky Zebra wish us all a Merry Christmas in their latest YouTube video. Two guys dressed in seriously amazing Boba Fett and Deadpool costumes run around the streets of London spreading holiday cheer. Isn’t the Boba Fett armor mind blowing?

This definitely put a smile on my face. Thanks, Guys!

End of the World Y2K Costume

Seeing how the world is going to end tomorrow, here’s a costume from a previous doomsday scenario. Remember all the fuss over Y2K? Ha, these guys dressed up as the Y2K bug, very clever. Lets hope tomorrow proves to be as uneventful. 🙂

Yaya Han Cosplays Her Own Artistic Likeness

I love the story behind this Gothic Princess cosplay by Yaya Han. She cosplays herself, in a round about way.

Artist Nene Thomas used Yaya’s likeness to draw the artwork below. It’s a beautiful drawing, indeed. Well, then Yaya Han made a costume based on the drawing and cosplayed her own likeness! How cool is that! It’s the perfect time to say, “The circle is now complete.” Well done!

Gothic Princess – costume based off of Nene Thomas Illustrations, Inc. artwork, for which I was the model. I know, it sounds weird, but Nene used my likeness for a piece of art, then I cosplayed it lol. Costume and wings made & modeled by Yaya Han, photographed by Stuart Townsley.

Just Cos: Group Costumes

Here’s a fun look at group costumes, from the recent episode of Nerdist’s Just Cos costume web series. Hosts Chloe Dykstra and Seth Herzog interview cosplayers and talk about the creative group themes at Dragon*Con in Atlanta.

Great stuff! Follow the link to view other costume-filled episodes of the show.
