As you may have already heard, a man dressed as Darth Vader robbed a bank in Long Island last Thursday. So far, it looks like he may have gotten away with it!
This story has been widely reported in the media, and there have been many jokes about the Empire struggling in this economy, Vader being out of work, etc. Apparently, one customer thought it was a joke until Vader knocked him to the ground. Heh, it’s pretty crazy.
A bank robber dressed as “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader made off with an undetermined amount of cash after pointing a handgun at startled tellers inside a Chase bank branch on Long Island. Detectives say the man walked into the bank shortly before noon Thursday wearing a full head mask and a blue cape. The only part of the uniform that was out of place were his camouflage pants. And that handgun – no light saber.
Check out his beautiful Princess Leia costume, made by Anaria Zarrel, aka Kristy Glasgow. I’ve recently started following her on Twitter and I’m just blown away by her work.
She has a million awesome costumes on her website, along with excellent descriptions of how she makes each one. I hope to highlight more of her great work in the future!
This Princess Leia costume was modeled after the “Gentle Giant” animation-style maquette.
What a perfect costume!
As an avid Star Wars fan and Gentle Giant collector, I fell in love with the animated Princess Leia maquette the moment it was announced. It has been center place in my collection ever since, recently joined by the Padme’ maquette. I have wanted to make the costume for a long time, I’m really happy to have finally had the opportunity. As always, I learnt more about working with lycra, and larger hair pieces. It is very comfortable to wear, and a lot of fun 🙂
Wow, this is so cool… the theatrical trailer for Tron: Legacy has just been released online! Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner return to reprise their roles in this long awaited sequel. I know movie trailers can be deceiving, but it really looks like Disney has hit this one out of the park. I can’t wait to see it!
Tron: Legacy will be released in theaters just before Christmas, 2010.
I’ve posted some official movie stills below, along with some Tron cosplay by fans. I’ll leave it to you to determine which is which. 🙂
