Giddy Up in Costume at the Rose Parade

Giddy up in costumes! Take a look at the Giddy Up Gals, the equestrian team from San Jose State University. They’ll be donning costumes and performing in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.

They will all be wearing fairy costumes, a theme based on “a story about a lonesome fairy who gains wings and new friends.”

Also worth noting is that the “rump of every horse will be painted with bright red roses,” which I’m sure will make it easier for these guys:

But the highlight of the show will trail the horses: the “pooper scoopers,” a pair of fathers — one skinny, one stout — dressed as bumblebees in yellow tights. They’ll pull a wheelbarrow decorated like a bee hive.

“Our dads are the real comedy act, dancing around with their shovels,” Hinson said. “People wave at us, but they’re the big audience hit.”

Heh, well if your job is to pick up horse poop, you might as well do it in costume.

Sounds like a fun parade and a great way to kick off the new year!

Christmas Story Bunny Costume

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

I thought it would be appropriate to show the pink bunny costume from the hilarious classic, Christmas Story. Remember Ralphie’s horror when he had to put it on? LOL, here’s the clip from the movie.

Heh, that poor kid. Ralphie doesn’t realize that it’s actually a cool costume! You can visit Instructables for a wonderful tutorial on how to make this bunny suit. Though it’s probably not a good idea to force someone to wear it, lol.

I hope everyone has a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Saving the World. It’s What I Do.

Saving the World

What an awesome photo! He totally has the neighborhood under control. I wonder what he’s thinking?

batman-roof “Saving the world. It’s what I do.”

“Not on MY watch.”

“…and I’ll whisper, No.”

Ha, I hope he’s not disillusioned enough to be quoting Rorschach, but it would be kind of cool.

He’s doing the perfect “staring from a rooftop” superhero pose. So regal. So very serious.

Yes, costumes are awesome.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Cozy

LOL, wow. This is an official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Michelangelo Funky Cozy, sold by Hottopic.

I’m not sure what to think about this. I guess for $28 it’s not a bad deal? I will say it looks more like a Jedi Turtle than a Ninja Turtle. It also looks like a giant hat.

Wild Beards and Mustaches

Oddee has a nice collection of bizarre bears and mustaches. Some of these photos I’ve seen before, but there are many in the list that I haven’t.

I have to hand to these incredible beard and mustache guys, they take facial hair VERY seriously. Talk about your dedication. So very cool!

We’ve posted this video before, but I think it should be included here. The craziest beard ever!

Star Wars Characters Open Stock Market

Darth Vader, R2-D2 and several stormtroopers rang the opening bell on Wall Street today, kicking off the New York Stock Exchange.

LOL, that’s kind of funny. What does it say about Wall Street, when the most evil Lord in the galaxy is invited to kick off the trading?

Thanks to Bonniegrrl for the tip!

Bring Back the Cloak!

What a totally awesome photo. Can we please make the cloak popular again? A cloak like this looks so classy, suitable for both men and women.

It does have a vague Jedi/Lord of the Rings look to it, but it’s a great look for everyone – I really want one!

A woman wears a cloak as she walks through the first snow to hit London this winter….
