Special T-Shirt Lets you Play Paper, Scissors, Rock with your Webcam?

by manny

Wow, this is so weird. Using “augmented reality” technology, you can play Paper, Scissors, Rock with yourself! All you need is a webcam and a special shirt provided by T-Post.

Unfortunately, if you don’t already have the special shirt, you can’t buy it anywhere. T-post is a self-described T-shirt magazine. That’s right. Along with a magazine with offbeat news, subscribers also get a t-shirt in the mail every six weeks.

But non-subscribers can still try out the game by printing out this symbol and attaching it to your chest.

Good luck!

Awesome Handmade Mario Bros. Sweater

by manny

mario-bros-sweater-front

What a cool sweater! This was handmade by the Happy Seamstress, and appropriately dubbed The Nerdiest Sweater Vest in the World. She made this for her video game loving husband, how sweet is that?

Knitting stitches are basically pixels, right? I took that idea to the extreme, and converted a screenshot of Level 1-1 from the original NES Mario Bros. game into a ginormous knitting chart made up of over 10 sheets of tabloid paper taped together, which I used to make a sweater vest for my video game-loving husband.

Morgan Freeman Needs Pants

by manny

morgan-freeman-dressupToday I have some good news and bad news. The bad news is obvious: Morgan Freeman is missing his pants.

The good news? You get to dress him up! Thanks to the crazy Internet and Jayisgames.com, you can play the Super Morgan Freeman Dress Up Game.

It’s a Flash-based game that lets you choose a variety of clothing and accessories from Morgan Freeman’s closet, so you can dress him in his finest clothes!

I guess I have two questions. First, why would anyone play this game? And second, why would anyone MAKE this game? How funny and weird.

I think it’s also worth pointing out that Morgan Freeman has a belly button, but no nipples. This just isn’t his day.

Good luck, Morgan, I hope you find your pants!

Legend of Zelda Trailer and Full Movie!

by manny

Okay, my mind is officially blown. The video above is a trailer for a fan-made Legend of Zelda movie, called “The Hero of Time.” I’m really impressed with the quality of the production – especially the awesome costumes!

The video below is the FULL MOVIE – 1 hour and 48 minutes long!

The Hero of Time is a feature-length, independent fan-film produced by BMB FINISHES in Atlanta, Georgia. It was directed and produced by Joel Musch. David Blane was also a producer of the film and starred as Link.

The film was shot mainly on weekends over the span of about two years from August ‘04 through January ‘06. Post production started immediately and a rough edit void of any special fx was contrived early in ‘07. The lack of visual fx and music help was challenging to the films progress; nevertheless the film printed a final draft in Oct ‘08 thanks to all the additional help from saints like George R. Powell (composer)!

The film is set in Hyrule where a young boy from the forest (Link) is beckoned by his dreams and the sage of the forest (Deku Tree) to venture to the city of Hyrule and seek princess Zelda’s council. The evil Lord Ganondorf has plotted to overthrow the kingdom which propels Princess Zelda into hiding. Link endeavors to save them by pulling of the Master Sword in the Temple of Time. Consequently sending him 5 years into the future where Ganon now rules and threatens the future of the kingdom. Link must find a way to not only save his princess but the land he’s fervent for.

I can’t wait to watch this! Here is the full movie – Enjoy!

Magical Zoltar Costume

by manny

Magical Zoltar Costume

Remember the Zoltar machine from the Tom Hanks movie, Big? This costume looks just like it!

Jonathan, the creator of this extravagent costume, sent me some great photos and video of this costume. This was a complete DIY project that he admittedly “went all out” on. No kidding! This is amazing.

Not only did he make this incredible costume, but he mounted it on a Segway scooter so it moves and follows people!

You can learn more about this costume on his website, http://www.segnyc.com, where Jonathan has posted a nice gallery of photos and videos.

Here are a couple of Zoltar Assembly videos, along with the original trailer for Big. Great work, Jonathan! Thanks for sending this in!

Amazing Bioshock Cosplay

by manny

BioshockWow, I’m just blown away by these Big Daddy and Little Sister costumes from the Bioshock video game.

These costumes were made by Harrison Krix, and they shot this cosplay set at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. What a great location, everything looks so surreal.

There’s also a great step-by-step photo gallery at Volpin Props that shows the tremendous work that went into the Big Daddy costume. Amazing job!

Update: I just received word that this very Bioshock costume is now for sale on Ebay!

Incredible 3D Giant Paper Head Mask

by manny

Incredible 3D Giant Paper Head Mask

This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! Eric Testroete works in the video game industry as an artist. He used 3D technology to scan his head and make a giant head mask for Halloween.

It’s made out of paper. 61 pound matte paper, to be exact. Incredible!

I made this as my costume for Halloween 2009. It was kind of inspired by big-head mode seen in videogames. I really wanted to get the faceted geosphere look with wireframe.

Software used:

3ds Max 2009
Mudbox 2010
Photoshop CS3
Pepakura
