Check out the incredible costumes from last month’s Blizzcon in Anaheim, CA. Talk about putting the WOW in World of Warcraft (thanks, I’ll be here all week).
Blizzcon is a celebration of the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, and the gamers who love them. For two days, blissful gamers participated in informative developer panels, live tournaments, hands-on gaming and best of all — a mind blowing Costume Contest!
These costumes are so great, even Yahoo! got in on the action and featured them on their home page.
I’ve never been to Blizzcon, but it looks like a TON of fun. To learn more, head on over to Blizzcon.com, and be sure to check out their extensive Photo Galleries!
Here are a few great photos of the Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleaders recently performing in Ghostbuster costumes. Looks like a great show. They even had a Stay Puft Marshmellow Man dancing with them.
There’s nothing better than a sexy Ghostbuster costume to chase away any ghosts who may have come to watch the football game.
Ghostbusters was a huge hit in 1984, and today the franchise is as strong as ever. Atari just announced a new Ghostbusters video game, and Hollywood sources have confirmed a third Ghostbusters movie is in the works! Apparently, the writers from the NBC comedy, “The Office,” will write the script.
Sounds great, I can’t wait for a new movie!
Feeling nostalgic? Why not treat yourself to the original Ghostbusters movie? You can watch the entire movie FREE on Hulu.com:
What do Star Wars and Thanksgiving have in common? Nothing, you would think. But this hilarious Xbox commericial blends clever advertising, in promoting a their Star Wars game, with the ensuing quirkiness that sometimes prevails at Thanksgiving’s traditional family gatherings (after watching this video, I think I’ll pack my light saber before heading off to Grandma’s for Thanksgiving dinner).
Here we have Naija from the popular game Aquaria. She’s even got her song wheel.
Very beautiful, I especially like her flipper feet. This gal (who’s name is Aleze) is a master of cosplay, and it turns out we’ve posted about her before.
Last year, she got famous posing as Midna from the Zelda series.
Great work!
For anyone interested, here’s a closer look at the game Aquaria.
Obviously we like any new take on costumes and the fun associated. Earlier on we reviewed Project Rooftop, our totally favorite superhero costume blog. Dean Trippe really has the system down, and his work is fantastic.
It’s one thing when you dress up and find yourself imitating a costume for fun. It’s a whole other thing when your every day clothing seems to dictate your favorite alternate reality. This guy better watch out.
Kotaku boasts the fanboyism and the audience enough to post a great article that may just be eons too late for the rest of us. That’s why, today they put up this Midna cosplay from last year. What does that mean for a blog like ours that blatantly shares the very same cosplay on the very same day, despite the lateness thereof? It means that it’s just that good. And besides, our blog is all about costumes so we have the RIGHT to do it! Right?
In true cosplay spirit, Midna is a character from Nintendo’s recent installment of the Zelda series, The Twilight Princess. This is a true blue, fan loved, authentic costume based on the character. From the head piece to the pattern design, it doesn’t get much better. Can anyone top this?
It’s only fair you get a sweet recap of all the good stuff that graced your computer screen over the last week. Yeah, it sounds cocky I know. But hey, where else do you go for an all-costuming blog? Hmm?

I have to apologize to all of you who don’t quite know Big Daddy. Trust me, he’d love to meet you.
If you didn’t notice, Big Daddy basically cleaned up all the coolness costume awards from ‘07. After an epic public showing at the Spike Video Game Awards, he’s had more media attention than a hybrid Paris Hilton/Britney Spears money spewing robot… that dispenses predictions of the future… and has the cure to cancer…
Okay, anyway it begs the question, what have you been doing Big Daddy? Is this monstrosity of a character laying low before he stars again in another epic under water adventure?
Big Daddy, where are you now? /begin dream sequence
Well, it seems that after being bludgeoned by fame and fortune, Big Daddy had his own action figure made.
Others who aren’t in possession of the dough for their own mini-pet Big Daddy have gotten the chance to create some dazzling renditions with Legos. Lincoln Logs Big Daddy on the way?
Big Daddy tried his hand in some other work, but it may have not worked out. (thanks Fenner)
And with such fame, comes TV deals… (don’t hold your breath, it’s not as entertaining as you may be expecting)
The art world has seemed to really grasp hold on Big Daddy’s fame. I mean, what’s not inspiring about a metal drill-armed weapon wielding superhuman mutant protector of creepy little girls?
Enjoying the paparazzi, Big Daddy decided to make a few extra bucks as well. Someone on eBay had the chance to get their paws on some of his daily garb. Fetching a nice, but underwhelming price, you’d figure he could make that same money buy poking through drawers and old registers down in Neptune’s Bounty, hmm?
All in all, it has been one great year for El Grande Papa. Keep sipping your piña coladas Big Daddy, it won’t be long before the world needs you again.
You would have to be more than half insane to somehow justify mixing politics and video games. Just ask any gamer what they think of Jack Thompson, Hilary Clinton, or any of their anti-couch vegging cohorts. Personally, I can’t imagine a game with gameplay that mixes politics in. Good for my short-sighted mind, there’s a game like Hail to the Chimp that does it for me. Being a major in Political Science, maybe I should take a look at this one.
Kotaku reports that 2 characters from the upcoming title plan on skating the political rink at the Iowa Caucus on Thursday. Is it purely for promotion, or do they have an agenda? Who cares, really? It’s a new entry into the cosplay arena that no one would have seen coming.

I scoured a bit to find out really what this game is about. Here’s a small blip from IGN:
Hail to the Chimp begins after the Lion is deposed as King following a series of embarrassing scandals. The rest of the animals decide it’s time to give democracy a try and hold an election for the next King giving even the lowliest of animals (the Clams) a say in things. The election quickly becomes a chaotic multiplayer free-for-all, with each candidate using a combination of brute force and dirty tricks to turn out the Clam vote. Ten animals will compete to become the next King. During the game, all ten candidates will need to form, and break, alliances with their rivals to gain the upper hand. Multiple game types and hazard-filled arenas keep the action flowing nonstop as the shifting loyalties, truces and vendettas build up to epic proportions.
Can Democracy save the world? Well our video games may seem to think so now. Doesn’t everyone want to inject their ideals into things these days? I say “excellent!” Bring it on. As long as it promotes someone getting in a monkey suit and casting their opinions about, I’m game.
I would love to see the reaction on McCain or Edward’s face when “Woodchuck Chumley and Crackers the Chimp” come in for a handshake.
Check the vid below for a preview of the game, which looks eerily unpolitical in most of its gameplay.
Not all Final Fantasy fans are Cosplayers, but a lot of them are. In fact, Final Fantasy boasts some of the most cosplay out there. The series has been going on for years and has seen numerous remakes with time. For the most part, the fanbase is strong.
In the early part of the decade, Square Enix released Final Fantasy XI, their online version of the game, to the world. Already a huge success in Japan, the game made some great leaps and bounds for the franchise. The game is still alive today, and is freshly awaiting an expansion due out just a short number of days. This will be the fourth expansion to the game.
As the game has had a steady pace of popularity amongst online gamers across the world, Square Enix has made a tradition of holding fan festivals to honor the gamers who keep the world of Vana’diel alive. Enter the cosplay. With some of the most creative art, Final Fantasy XI cosplayers are popular among the world of cosplay. This year, to honor the upcoming festival, we’re highlighting the world of Final Fantasy XI in our weekly cosplay highlight.
This picture is of the Red Mage that clearly these players are quite fond of. The suits look, as all cosplay, totally hand made and are very cleverly done. Here’s a look at what the costume looks like in the game.
I do say, not a bad job at all. Well anyway, there’s the cosplay for the day. If you’re interested, pop over to the Fan Festival site and take a look at what they’ll be holding this upcoming weekend. It looks to be like quite the event. Costume competitions? You bet. It wouldn’t be the same without it.
If you have any sort of pictures, ideas, stories, or things to add about FFXI, the upcoming fan festival, or anything FFXI cosplay related then go ahead and pop on in. We’ll be more than happy to host any user images!
