Shiny Mirror Costume

by manny

mirrorman1

Wow, a street performer in LA hits the streets in a costume made of mirrors, complete with shoes, full mask and hat. This is insane!

Kudos to ThatCostumeGirl for spotting this. Head on over to her site for more photos.

ThatCostumeGirl Goes Back to the ’80s

by manny

ThatCostumeGirl goes back to the ’80s! How cute. She put together a styling retro ensemble and made a fun dancing video.

Nice moves, TCG!

The clothing part went pretty well. I wore an old stretched pink sweater over a bright yellow graphic tee. I put on some lace edged black leggings and scrunch socks. I finished the look with green fingerless gloves. My Adidas are in my trunk because I forgot to get them out, oh well. For the makeup I smeared on some blue eyeshadow and pink lipgloss. Simple. The hair is sectioned with a couple of star shaped ponytail holders. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Happy Winter Solstice, Everyone!

It’s the first official day of Winter, and I WAS cold – until I saw ThatCostumeGirl in her Winter Nymph costume.

Wow, that’s so hot! Better than a cup of cocoa. This is a great way to start Winter!

Visit ThatCostumeGirl to view her wintery post, and be sure to check out her photo gallery as well. Lovely work, TCG!

ThatCostumeGirl Goes to Work as Ned Flanders

by manny

Ned Flanders Costume

This is so funny. Yesterday, ThatCostumeGirl had a howdy doodley hi-diddly-ho good time by going to work dressed as Ned Flanders from The Simpsons! Random Acts of Costume are simply the best.

She looks great, and I love the way she has fun with costumes. Costumes are such a great way to brighten up your day, and everyone around you as well. It definitely puts a smile on my face.

Way to go, TCG!

Robot Chicken Costumes

by manny

Robot Chicken CostumesRobot Chicken Costumes

Yesterday, Twitter was buzzing with excitement after Costume Craze released photos of their new Robot Chicken masks. I think they look pretty cool! A full overhead latex mask for $30 isn’t a bad price at all.

I’m also impressed with several homemade Robot Chicken costumes I found by doing a little snooping around the Web. These costumes are excellent and you can tell a lot of care and work went into making them.

Robot Chicken is such a funny show. It’s alive!

Quite adorable. Well done, TCG!

Wolverine and Elvis are Brothers

by manny

I was looking over some of the new costumes at Costume Craze – and confirmed something I’ve long suspected. Clearly, Wolverine and Elvis are brothers.

It makes perfect sense – Wolverine is a terrible singer, and that’s why he’s always so pissed off.

Heh, all jokes aside, Costume Craze has a bunch of new Wolverine costumes. You should check ‘em out!

Missalie Posts Some Great Artwork Inspiring Costume Design

by collin

We like to bring attention to great stuff we find on the web. Even moreso do we love bringing attention to things we’ve talked about from the web.

Blogger Jenny Paatero keeps the blog Missalie.net at a personal repository of all her artwork. Amongst the art, as it turns out, is some costume design she did herself. This goes right along with a lot of the talk we’ve been doing about planning costumes ahead of time by keeping sketches and journals. This artwork would be a great springboard for some cosplay.

mage-_1.jpg

In this recent post she put up some designs under the post name Mage #1. Does that mean there will be more additions? We’re not sure. This is a great mockup of a wonderful costume idea she had on her own. It looks like she’s into the whole fantasy and gaming culture, which isn’t so niche these days. I wonder if these sketches will ever see the light of day in costume form…

Great work, Jenny.
