Harry Potter Cosplay Fun

by manny

Today is a good day to be a Harry Potter fan! Jonathon Rosenthal, Head Organizer of The Group That Shall Not Be Named, was kind enough to let me know about their group’s recent Harry Potter cosplay shoot.

We’ve posted about them before, they did an incredible photo shoot last September.

Here are a few of the great photos from their Winter Cosplay photo shoot late last March. These are fantastic! Photos by Grace Kendall.

Iron Baby Saves the Day

by manny

This is really cute and awesome. Iron Baby to the rescue! Heh, what a well done short… I want this to be a real movie!

Iron Baby was made by Patrick Boivin, and stars his baby daughter. Her uncle made the costume, isn’t it great?

I also love the villains in this video. So funny!

Video: Blame it on Cosplay

by manny

What better way to celebrate Friday than with this insane cosplay music video. Watch as Jenn, also known as TealPirate, artfully transitions through about a million costumes.

This was put together by JenxtheJinx, a famous cosplay group in the UK. Great job! I find myself just watching this over and over.

Long Neck Costumes in Beer Commercial

by manny

I don’t speak Spanish, but I’m guessing Miller Lite is advertising their long neck bottles with people in long neck costumes? Heh, that’s a pretty clever idea.

I can’t decide if I’d rather have the giraffe costume or the flamingo costume… I like them both!

Sense: This Cosplay Makes None

by Chajiko

Con season is in full swing, my friends!

As a result, I’m in a constant state of happy cosplay-daze, and a less happy daze of cosplay envy. Originally I was going to highlight some of the more unusual and remarkable cosplays, but then I descended into silliness and have found the following pictures for your enjoyment.

As much as I love a beautifully posed, character-accurate cosplay portrait, I have to admit that the goofy, silly, off the wall pictures and costumes are a pretty close second as far as favourites are concerned. Some of these will make you laugh, and others will make you say “Huh?!” but I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Los dos amigos!

Nothing says Cinco de Mayo like…Fire Emblem? Looks like we’ve got Marth and Ike here, and both have exchanged their signature headbands for more stylish headwear! Viva Elibe!

“You know…I really don’t think you need anymore caffiene.”

How much commentary does this picture really need? I think it speaks for itself.

“I’ve been good, I SWEAR! Now put that kunai away!”

A very merry, er, Naruto to you too! Here we have the phlegmatic Kakashi Sensei posing in the uniform he wears when he moonlights as a mall santa–because Christmas needs more Ninja!

ACEN_09___BEST_COSPLAY_EVER_by_ich_bin_Insanity[1]
Darn computer! How am I supposed to download the newest Naruto chapter now?!

I don’t even know what to say. 10/10 for originality!

We_Are_The_Batman_by_Furrehaxel[1]
Batman’s newest sidekick.

This one gets kudos for not only being random and hilarious, but also for spanning the vast Japan-DC Comics Divide unlike anything since the Cartoon Network version of Teen Titans.

“Don’t look like that, Roxas!”

Seriously, this picture is doubly awesome with both Axel and Roxas in it.

“Kuja, Sephiroth and an Onion Knight were walking through a field…

Sounds like the beginning of an awesome joke.  Kuja’s pose is most definitely made of win.

Keep ‘em coming, cosplayers!

Lost Finale Party Costumes

by manny

l-amysx-large

USA Today posted some fun pictures of people’s Lost finale parties. Looks like lots of fans were really into celebrating the end of a big show.

I watched all six seasons of Lost, and I certainly enjoyed it. Though I think I was more interested in the mythology and mystery of the island than I was in flashback-filled drama of all the characters. So, yeah, I was a bit disappointed in the finale and the answers provided by the writers.

But I digress… I really like these Lost costumes, you can see how many fans turned the finale into a big party. How fun! I think my favorite is the “Hurley in the Dharma van” costume. Apparently those headlights really work. Great job!

Teen Werewolves?

by manny

Have you heard of real life teen werewolves? Apparently these groups are cropping up in San Antonio schools.

LOL, this news story is something else. These kids form packs, and wear tails, colored contact lenses and fake fangs. They hang out together in malls, and sometimes under the full moon!

I see similarities to Furries, but I’d say it’s not really the same thing. I don’t know… what do you think?

Watch this Girl Transform into a Tusken Raider

by manny

I stumbled onto this delightful Tusken Raider costume that was just barely posted on Youtube by silverquill212. Upon completion of this costume, she will hopefully become a full member of Garrison Carida, which is part of the 501st Legion.

It’s fun watching her transform into a Raider. This is a great costume! Great job, SilverQuill!

Shoes: tennis shoes wrapped in fabric, with extra fabric to wrap up the legs (secured with velcro)
Shirt: heather longsleeved Hanes tee, with canvas gloves attached at the wrists, and fabric to wrap the arms

Inner robe: heather fabric

Outer robe: linen fabric; design is my own

Neck piece: linen fabric

Bandoliers: sewn brown vinyl, belt buckles, thumb tacks

Helmet/mask: bought on Ebay (made from half a baseball helmet, a customized plastic mask, and other materials)

It still needs:
-to be dirty
-breather device
-gaffi stick

Scary Halloween Props Made from Bread

by manny

A baker from Thailand has achieved fame by baking bread that looks like grotesque body parts! What a crazy idea, perfect for the zombie wannabe.

I missed breakfast – is it wrong that the thought of warm, fresh bread makes me hungry?
