Costume Craze has been on fire lately, releasing lots of pictures of new costumes for Halloween 2010.

It’s funny how anything can be made into a sexy costume. Wolverine? Transformers? Cobra Commander? Ninja Turtles? Yes, they are all sexy, didn’t you know?

    These aren’t sexy, they’re slutty. I wish these companies would learn the difference.

    (Please don’t get the wrong impression, I mean no offense to this site at all, you post tons of pictures of gorgeous home-made costumes. I’m just mad at this costume company.)

    I do think there’s room in the costume world to talk about both homemade and commercial costumes, so in that sense, the new commerical costumes for this year IS news, I believe.

    That said, sarcasm, criticism and snark are always welcome here!

    Yea, it’s pretty sad that the vast majority of girls costumes are “Sexy ___” and not all that creative. Reminds me of that Girls Costume Warehouse video that CollegeHumor made a few years ago:

    I personally have mixed emotions about the Sexy costume lines. I know a lot of ladies who are very attractive and they go to the gym all the time, and they like to get their sexy on at Halloween – is that so bad? I think the truth is that many women do like the sexy look, and it obviously sells well.

    On the other hand, it does seem stereotypical and objectifying.

    Sexy costumes are fine with me. Commercially made costumes are fine with me. Girls wearing the slutty costumes are fine with me. What makes me mad is when I’m looking for a woman’s costume and can only find the slutty ones. I’m just not that type of girl, and I know I’m not alone in this.
